Privacy Policy

MyBodyNote (the "App")

Summary

The App stores everything you record on this device and sends it nowhere. The developer cannot see it. No account is required.

Information we do not collect

The App does not collect any of the following:

• Personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number
• Location data
• Reading contacts, your photo library, calendars, or any other data on your device (for photos, the App only receives the single image you pick)
• Usage analytics, advertising identifiers, or crash reports

The App has no server that holds your records. The App itself never sends your records off your device (see the section on device backups below).

The only network request the App makes is a single read at launch to check the minimum supported version. It sends nothing: no records, no device identifiers, no usage data. The App works normally when that request cannot be made.

That file is served by GitHub Pages, which may keep the requesting IP address and timestamp as a technical log. The developer neither reads nor stores it.

Information stored on your device

The following is stored in a database on your device:

• Symptom records (body area, severity, quality, notes, date and time)
• Photos attached to records
• Daily records (meals, medication, sleep, and so on)
• Measurements such as weight
• Period records (start date, end date, flow) — only if you turn this on
• Condition names
• App settings

Your device (iOS or Android) keeps this in storage reserved for the App, where other apps cannot read it.

Device backups

• iPhone: if you have whole-device backups turned on, such as iCloud Backup, the App's records are included in that backup. This follows a setting you chose for your device; the App does not send anything to the developer. Restoring your device from that backup brings the records back too.
• Android: the App is excluded from Android's automatic backup (backup to Google Drive) and from device-to-device transfer when you set up a new phone. Your records are not stored in Google Drive and do not move to a new phone automatically.

When you change phones, create a file with Export backup and restore it in the App on your new phone.

When you export data yourself

Your records leave the App only in the following cases. Each one starts with an action you take.

• Export backup: writes your records to a file. You choose where it goes (iCloud Drive, Google Drive, a files app, another app, and so on).
• Export or print PDF: creates a PDF of your records to share or print. You choose the destination or printer, and you choose what goes in (symptoms, weight, medication, period, and so on). Period records are not included by default.
• Share or save a photo: hands a photo attached to a record to your device's share sheet. You choose where it goes, including saving it to your device's photo library.
• Copies of photos you take: saves photos taken with the App's camera to a "MyBodyNote" album in your Photos app as well. Photos kept inside the App are deleted with it, so this is on by default. You can turn it off (Settings → Photo copies). Photos you choose from your library already remain there, so only photos you take are copied. If your photos sync with iCloud Photos or Google Photos, these copies are stored in that cloud too.

Once exported, the file is outside the App's control and is governed by the privacy policy of wherever you send it. Please handle it with care.

Deleting your data

Deleting the App also deletes all records stored on your device. The App cannot bring them back (on an iPhone with whole-device backups turned on, restoring the device from that backup brings the records back too). Export a backup first if you want to keep them.

Copies kept in your Photos app remain after the App is deleted. Delete them from the Photos app if you no longer want them.

Medical disclaimer

The App is a tool for keeping records. It is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent any disease. Its records cannot diagnose a condition or prove the cause of a symptom. Please consult a doctor about your health.

Children

The App collects no personal information, so no age restriction applies.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will be updated.
